In the tide of global trade, the export of furniture hardware products has become a key business for many Chinese companies. Especially maritime shipping to global destinations, with its unique advantages, has attracted the attention of countless Chinese enterprises. So, what are the heart-thumping benefits of maritime shipping for hardware products?
First off, the cost-effectiveness of maritime shipping is hard to ignore. Compared to air freight, the price is more affordable. Although it takes longer, the advantage is that it saves a lot of transportation costs for both traders. For many trading companies, this is undoubtedly an important competitive advantage, helping businesses better control costs and increase export profits.

Maritime shipping offers greater flexibility for furniture hardware products. These products come in various sizes and weights, and air freight might face many restrictions and extra costs. Maritime shipping is more adaptable, adjusting shipping plans according to customer needs, whether it's bulk, general cargo, or containerized goods—it can handle it all. This flexibility not only reduces extra costs but also better meets the personalized product needs of purchase orders, achieving customized purchasing services.
Exporting hardware for daily use from China by sea isn't tough; just pay attention to the details. Most furniture and daily life hardware items can be delivered with customs clearance included.
The types of goods you can ship include: furniture, furniture hardware accessories, moving items, hardware equipment, machinery, glass lamps, packaging bottles, restaurant and bubble tea shop materials, packaging boxes, and other daily necessities. As for the size and weight of the goods, in principle, as long as it fits in a container, no problem—even if the size is 2m by 3m. The shipping process is:
- Domestic customs declaration and departure
- Maritime shipping to the destination port
- Customs clearance and container pick-up at the destination
- Home delivery appointment

The maritime industry, as a pillar of China's and even global trade, bears most of the world's cargo transportation. It not only connects production sites with consumption sites around the world but is also key to the efficient operation of the global supply chain, involving various transportation methods, including dry bulk, tankers, and container shipping. These methods collectively support the flow of China's trade and play a crucial role in the stability and development of China's economy.
According to China Customs statistics, in the first seven months of 2024, China's total import and export value was 3.5 trillion USD, with a 3.5% increase. Exports were 2.01 trillion USD, up by 4%; imports were 1.49 trillion USD, up by 2.8%; the trade surplus was 518 billion USD, expanding by 7.9%.
In July 2024, the overall situation of China's export container shipping market continued to be stable and improving. The demand for transportation remained high, and the supply-demand relationship was relatively good.

In the first half of July, market freight rates continued to rise, but in the second half, many long-haul routes saw a high retreat. The latest data released by the General Administration of Customs of China shows that in June 2024, China's exports increased by 8.6% year-on-year in USD terms, with further acceleration in growth.
In the first half of the year, China's import and export scale exceeded 21 trillion USD for the first time in the same period of history. The positive momentum of China's foreign trade has been further consolidated, which will provide long-term support for the stable growth of China's export container shipping market.
In July 2024, the China Export Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) released by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange was an average of 2107.66 points, up by 19.1% from the previous month; the Shanghai Export Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), reflecting the spot market, was an average of 3599.74 points, up by 4.7% from the previous month.
