The metal wire drawing process is generally understood as the process of mechanically moving and chemically corroding the metal surface back and forth through grinding materials, so that the workpiece surface obtains a layer of macroscopic texture with uniform thickness distribution.

Wire drawing can give the metal surface a non-mirror-like metallic luster, which has a very strong decorative effect. It can be used on many types of metal products such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper and iron. It is also a common processing technology in the production of sofa legs.

Wire drawing can be divided into manual wire drawing and mechanical wire drawing. Common mechanical wire drawing includes flat-pressed abrasive belt wire drawing, non-woven roller brush wire drawing, wide abrasive belt wire drawing and centerless grinding wire drawing.

01. Flat-pressed abrasive belt drawing

Flat-pressed abrasive belt drawing is a common drawing method. In this process, the workpiece is fixed on the mold, and the high-speed abrasive belt is matched with the pneumatically controlled up and down movable pressure block to make the back of the abrasive belt close to the processed metal surface for drawing.

Flat-pressed abrasive belt drawing is suitable for small-area surfaces that require flat drawing, such as digital camera housings, mobile phone housings, and sofa legs, and its drawing effect is a continuous straight wire pattern. In addition to automatic flat wire drawing machines, there is also a similar manual mechanical device.

02. Non-woven roller brush drawing technology

Non-woven roller brush drawing technologyis to achieve surface drawing by transferring the workpiece to a high-speed rotating non-woven roller brush. In the drawing process, two methods can be used: roller brush vibration and non-vibration, combined with different processing speeds, to produce lines of varying lengths.

Non-woven roller brush drawing technology is suitable for large-area drawing and can adapt to drawing surfaces with certain curved surfaces, even including small bosses such as text logos.

This drawing method has been widely used in the fields of notebook alloy panels, keyboard panels, mobile phone LCD frames, battery covers, and camera protection panels.

03. Wide belt wire drawing

Wide belt wire drawing is the most traditional wire drawing process. Its principle is that the belt rotates at high speed, and the plate is polished and wire drawn through the conveyor belt and the belt. Usually, stainless steel plates, aluminum alloys and other plates need to be made into wire drawing semi-finished products first, so as to be further processed into products with plates as raw materials.

Wide belt wire drawing is suitable for flat wire drawing, especially for plate processing. This wire drawing method is common in stainless steel elevator door panels, stainless steel counters, aluminum alloy chassis, etc., and its wire drawing effect is usually fine short lines, commonly known as snowflake patterns.

04. Centerless grinding drawing

Centerless grinding drawing is drawing by centerless grinding, and the grinding products used are non-woven wire drawing wheels or abrasive belts.

Centerless grinding drawing is suitable for drawing circular tubular workpieces, such as handles. The lines drawn in this way are usually short lines, and the length of the lines is related to the rotation speed of the workpiece, the rotation speed of the grinding product and the grinding product itself.

Different wire drawing methods will produce different wire patterns. Usually, wire drawing patterns can be divided into straight lines, random lines, wavy lines and spiral lines.

Generally, the purpose of surface treatment of metal products is multifaceted. Wire drawing process can not only improve the appearance of metal products, making them more beautiful and generous, but also increase their surface hardness, improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and enhance the market competitiveness of products.

The purpose of surface treatment of metal products is to improve the appearance quality, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of products, so as to meet the application requirements under different needs and promote the wide application of metal products in various fields.
